In the original
The Hebrew word for Noah's ark is used for exactly one other boat: baby Moses's basket.
תֵּבָהtēbāhbox, chest
Tēbāh is not the ordinary word for a ship. It appears for Noah's ark and, apart from that, only in Exodus 2, for the little basket Moses's mother daubed with pitch and set in the river. Both are sealed with pitch, both carry a future through water that kills others, and both have no oars or rudder. Neither passenger steers.
