Pointing to Christ
Joseph reveals himself the moment a brother offers to take another's place.
Judah — who once proposed selling Joseph — now stands before the Egyptian governor and asks to be enslaved instead of Benjamin: “let thy servant abide instead of the lad a bondman to my lord.” The very next verse: “Then Joseph could not refrain himself.” The brother who sold one favourite son offers himself for the other. From Judah's line would come the One who took everyone's place.
