Apo (away) plus kalyptō (to cover): to take the lid off. The book of Revelation is named for its first word — an unveiling — which is a strange name for a book most readers find opaque, and a useful corrective: it was written to disclose, not to mystify.

The ninth Article of Faith uses the concept as a present-tense claim: God "will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God." Amos 3:7 supplies the pattern, and D&C 121:26–33 promises a revelation not yet given, reserved for the faithful.
